For Christmas this year, the in-laws gave us a gift membership to Costco. You all know what I’m talking about when I say Costco, right? Do they have them everywhere? Kind of like Sam’s Club? No? Yes? Why am I still talking to you in question form?
Well for those of you missing out on the glorious-ness that is Costco, let me explain. Costco is like the box-store big brother that dazzles you with awesome displays of unwordly delights, but then convinces you that you’ll need to stock up on 14 of those grape jellies, because of course you’ll use them before the expiration date, silly.
“Shhh, don’t think about it, woman. Just place it in your cart and let our free sample stands distract you before you realize what you’ve done. Make sure you check out our selection of women’s stockings in aisle 10 because you have no idea right now how much you’ll need those, too.”
Before you know it, you’ve bought 10 bulk items that range from sour cream to light bulbs and you’ve spent $150. You get to the parking lot and wonder how you’ll make dinner out of 80 packages of fruit snacks and battteries. I’m no expert, but I think I could have just bought the one jelly at the supermarket and been pretty ok with spending $2.50 on it. Unless all of a sudden I start a peanut butter and jelly phase. I’ve been known to get on kicks.
Tony and I walked around Costco tonight and “ooh’ed” and “ahh’ed” at all the stuff. Then we bought a large pack of gummy bears and some tortilla soup and called it a night.

Hahaha! I avoid going there because I always buy too much and spend way more than I plan on, but it is great for kalamata olives and feta cheese!!!
Funny post!

I was definately checking out the cheese…but I just worry it’ll go moldy before I can eat it all. That’s a lot of cheese for just 2 people! 😉

Then it is set in stone…I know your Christmas gift next year!

Scott and I just mooch off of the neighbor’s membership. We get about 5 or 6 3 pound bags of pistachios a year and maybe a flat of bottled waters but that is about it. One we don’t have space to store 100 rolls of toilet paper and two…..well as good as that big brick of cheese looks, it will be stinky cheese in two weeks when we have only made it through half of it. But I can say that I do enjoy the free samples and browsing there for an hour on a Saturday….I need to get out more.

Our Costco is super creepy – they check your ID’s with a passion…in fact, my sister-in-law got kicked out trying to use her own mother’s card…and she was picking up stuff for her mom! Kinda lame.

I prefer Strawberry Jelly btw…..Part of me wants a Sam’s Club membership…but then the other part realizes I don’t have the space for bulk items.

Put me down for a strawberry as well.

I do prefer strawberry over grape, too…I just happened to notice the huge carton of, like, 18,000 grape jellies as I was walking by. 🙂

We call it the $200 store. And we got a membership from my dad and stepmom. We already had the membership, but are going to use that to make our membership an Executive and get 3% back on all purchases. And, FYI when a little cheeky baby makes an appearance the Costco brand diapers are awesome!
We also bought several Christmas presents for people at Costco. We ❤ that store!

It totally tricks you into buying everything! Cuz it HAS everything! We actually made a game plan on how we’d walk around it when we went in. Not like we have a life or anything 🙂

Remember when Dad and I would go! Cheez…it is great for a business or large family but…Now Jenny I think you could find room for the toilet paper and paper towels. That is what I usually bought.

Happy New Year!
I’ve only been to Costco once but for the amount of paper towels we go through, I’m considering signing up.
Of course then that would lead to where to store a mountain of paper towels..but I digress…
